Case study: using a branded hot air balloon at a sports event

A clear day dawned over the lakes of Eton Dorney on 30th June 2017 for the JLL Property Triathlon.  With JLL’s branded hot air balloon inflated in time for the first race at 8am, hundreds of people began arriving onto the site. Some of them were ready to enter the water, others there to watch as property companies competed for the numerous titles and prizes.

We think JLL are incredibly smart marketers; the global property consultants have been holding their hugely successful triation for the last 11 years.  But it is their branding of events which seals the deal, ensuring their name is seen across the site. You can see it on banners, clothing, structures, even athletes. And of course the balloon – which on that day wasn’t there to fly pasengers over and away from the event, but to stay tethered to the ground, visible to every single person and photographer on site. Its visibility was echoed by the number of social media posts it appeared in. JLL raised thousands of pounds for charity through the event, and kept their brand firmly in view at all times.

Branded and visible – on site and online

The balloon could be seen tethered next to the lakes for over six hours, providing a constant focal point. With footage of the event being gathered by drone cameras, the balloon gave variety to the content. For social media users, the balloon made a fantastic subject for winners’ tweets and posts – and added to the memories of their day with JLL.

If you sponsor sports or cultural events, why not consider a branded hot air balloon for advertising. Headline-grabbing, you’ll have a tool that provides content, is great for hospitality, maximises media coverage – cost effective and with excellent ROI.  We can work with you to integrate it into your marketing campaigns, leveraging maximum impact for your brand.  Getting above your competitors has never been so much fun!
